International Scientific Conference “WIDENING HORIZONS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION: STAFF TRAINING FOR MODERN HEALTHCARE”

International Research and Practice Conference “WIDENING HORIZONS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION: STAFF TRAINING FOR MODERN HEALTHCARE” was held on September 26-28, 2018 in St. Petersburg.

The organizers of the Conference were the Federal Medical Biological Agency and the St. Petersburg Center of Postgraduate Medical Education under the FMBA of Russia.The Conference was devoted to the 30th Anniversary of the St. Petersburg Center of Postgraduate Medical Education.

The heads of healthcare organizations, deputy heads of medical units, HR heads, and specialists of departments of intrahospital training, heads of nursing services, clinical nurses, directors and lecturers of educational institutions of the FMBA of Russia attended the Conference.

More than 250 delegates from leading Russian Federal and International healthcare, educational institutions and associations took part in the Conference.The conference aimed at discussion of the modern interdisciplinary issues in the field of medical staff training and education, including trends for effective management, clinical safety and quality assurance of nursing care in the systematic approach, as well as quality management of basic and continuing medical education under the current legal frameworkconditions. One of the main objectives of the conference was to present best practices and breakthrough technologies inproviding modern healthcare and continuing professional education.

The Conference opened witha demonstration of nursing uniforms of the past and present. The official part started with the official speeches made by the representatives of the Federal Medical Biological Agency and the Health care Committee of the Saint-Petersburg Goverment.

The conference program included 65 reports on various topics. Experts in the field of quality management of medical care and medical education, heads of healthcare organizations and heads of nursing services of the FMBA of Russia, representatives of practical healthcare and medical education of Russia, CIS countries and foreign organizations, as well as representatives of public professional organizations and medical device manufacturers were invited as speakers.

Speakers highlighted the importance of sharing experiences with colleagues, implementation of new technologies, and development of partnership between medical schools.

As part of the international network partnership, foreign speakers and partners from the UK - Pauline Monro, the USA - Jane K. Younger, Finland - Salla Seppänen, Jussi Hänninen, Mari-Anne Pitkäjärvi, Riitta Riikonen, Elina Jouppila-Kupiainen, Marja-Liisa Siren-Huhtinen, Portugal - Wilson Correia de Abreu, Croatia - Branka Rimac, Renata Habeković, Slavica Berić, the Netherlands - Els van der Wilden, Japan - Hajime Sato, Tsutomu Oshima took part in the conference. The reports aroused interest among the participants of the symposium.

Within the framework of the conference, it was held an exhibition of medical equipment and supplies of Russian and foreign companies: Hartmann, Bbraun, Kront, 3B Scientific, LLC Technological Clothing Lab, Lysoform, Medical Line, Orteka, Novodez, Elamed.

The reports are included in the electronic book of materials of the International Research and Practice Conference “Widening horizons in medical education: staff training for modern healthcare” with the assignment of ISBN.

The conference participants noted a high-level of the organization, the relevance of the reports, and the possibility of exchanging experience with colleagues and discussing important issues in the field of healthcare.
